Admission  

The Master of Human Resources program is designed to train individuals for careers as human resource professionals. Because of the increasingly complex and sophisticated nature  of the profession, both business foundation courses and a high degree of specialization in the human resource area are needed in order to meet the needs of employers.

The M.H.R. program ensures that srudents have the necessary exposure to business foundation areas through 12 semester hours selected from coursework in accounting, econonics, finance, management science, and marketing. The M.H.R. program ensures students achieve the necessary specialized training through 24 hours of required coursework in human resource management, three hours of elective coursework in human resource management, and a six semester-hour internship or practicum experience related to human resources


Admission

Admission criteria include:

  • GPA
  • Course ofstudy
  • Work experience
  • Applicant’s witten personal statement
  • Letters of refersnce
  • Scores on the GMAT (scores on the GRE may be substituted for the GMAT)

In 2008, the entering class had an average GPA of 3.45, an average GMAT of 542, and an average GRE of 1089.


Degree Requirements (45 Hours)


Business Foundation Coursework (12 Hours)


Students are required to complete 12 hours of business foundation coursework. The 12 hours of business foundation coursework can be satisfied by taking four of the following courses:

Internship or Practicum (6 Hours)


Students are required to complete MGMT 727, a six hour internship or practicum in the human resource field.

M.H.R./J.D Electives Policy


Students in the M.H.R./J.D. program may use up to 12 hours of employment-related law courses from the law school to fulfill requirements within the M.H.R. program.
